Okay, *a lot* is going on in the food realm—Daylight Saving food deals are here, butterbeer season is underway, and Dunkin’ has dropped its spring menu. And just when you think things are calming down, A&W drops another bomb on us.
This August, Keurig Dr Pepper is releasing two new A&W soda flavors. Instagram food account, snackolator, broke the news last month by writing, "A&W has a new limited edition Ice Cream Sundae soda that will be here this summer. Even better is that this is going to be available in both regular and zero sugar."
According to the press release, this soda blends "flavors of sweet vanilla ice cream with the rich indulgence of fudge flavor." It’s almost like a portable ice cream float but in a carbonated form. Perfect for sippers who love the nostalgic taste of ice cream and root beer but want an extra kick.
There are a couple of months before this bev drops, but fans are already counting down the days. "I’ve already been looking for it in stores! Can August come quicker, please?" one fan wrote. "August? But I want it now!" another commented. Preach, sister.
"I’m the 1% of humans that can’t wait to try this," read another comment.
Fans are also excited about the sugar-free option. As one commentor pointed out, more and more sodas are releasing sugar-free alternatives, and this A&W beverage is no exception. "I am enjoying this trend of a soda revolution where they're coming out with so many zero sugar flavors," they wrote. "As a diabetic, it's awesome 👏🙌."
"Been looking forward to the Zero Sugar for forever 😍😋," another wrote.
Most fans are psyched about the new drink, but some are worried about the supply, considering it’s a temporary offering. "Why do they gotta keep all the good stuff limited 😭," wrote one fan.
And I get it—limited edition finds always keep us wanting more. But with so many limited edition items being brought back (ahem, Chick-fil-A), there's always hope for more fun surprises down the road. Fingers crossed!
