As host of The Food That Built America, television personality Adam Richman certainly knows a thing or two about some of the most decadent culinary pastimes, including baking chocolate chip cookies.
In fact, on the upcoming "Baking Chocolate Chip History" episode of the series, Richman and guests will spill all the details on what's arguably one of America's most popular cookies. The episode will even take a deep dive into the life of the cookie's creator, Ruth Graves Wakefield.
Before the episode aired, Delish chatted it up with Richman to get his thoughts on a handful of the most popular store-bought chocolate chip cookies. The cookies he could choose between were Tate's Bake Shop, Chips Ahoy!, Entenmann's, FreshDirect, and Essential Everyday.
From the beginning, the chocolate chip cookies from FreshDirect, a grocery delivery service, proved to be a favorite.
"That was chewy in the center. I thought it was gonna be like a chocolate potato chip. Very good," Richman said of the cookies.
The cookie connoisseur also didn't hold back when it came to his least favorite.
"Smells tastier than it actually is. Speaking my cookie truth, I don't like it. I no longer wish to taint either my mouth or the milk with that cookie," he said after taking a bite of Essential Everyday's Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
