If you've ever strolled through the bakery at your local Costco and denied yourself the joy of a Tiramisu Cold Brew Coffee Cheesecake or Pumpkin Pie because it was just too big, there's a clever hack that has your name on it.
Buried in the recent comments section of a Reddit post raving about Costco's Tuxedo Cake, the hack offers a smart way to make a big treat last—and ensure you don't eat too much of it at once.
According to the original poster, the dessert was so delicious it "broke" them. "That thing was sooooooo damn good! I had two slices, and now I want more. I'm debating going to Costco on my way home to buy one for the house," they wrote.
And in the comments section, one user offered this genius tip to avoid devouring back-to-back slices of cake: freeze them!
"I buy the cakes and cut them up and freeze them. Then my ADHD makes me forget about them until I have to get something from the deep freeze and I’m all Ohhhhhhhh cake," the cake lover explained.
Others chimed in, revealing that they've also sliced up their Costco cakes with plans to freeze the sweet treats.
"Right now I have 4 slices of the tiramisu cheese cake on a plate covered in cling wrap in the freezer. Tomorrow I’ll wrap each frozen piece in cling wrap and then put them all in a freezer bag. Everything I’ve done that to that originated from Costcos bakery tasted great when thawed and eaten," one person revealed.
"This is brilliant. My future self thanks you!" read another comment.
We're on the fence with this one, but apparently, eating cake while it's still frozen is also a thing for some people.
"Freezing it is smart but I'd probably end up eating it straight from the freezer. Cold cake hits different sometimes," one user wrote.
Sounds like the Costco bakery will be seeing us again in the very near future.
