Whether your go-to order is a Baconator, spicy nuggets, or the beloved baked potato, your Wendy’s meal is likely accompanied by a Frosty. The cold, creamy frozen treat has been a fixture on the chain’s menu since its start in 1969. Now, it’s one of Wendy’s most iconic products.
For a bit of fast food history, the chain offered only chocolate Frosties for more than 30 years. They branched out to vanilla in 2006; since then, Wendy’s has been constantly innovating with fun limited-edition flavors. And their newest launch might be the best one yet: Girl Scout Thin Mints.
Whether you love them or hate them, Thin Mints are the hallmark of the Girl Scout cookie portfolio. Fans often store their sleeves of Thin Mints in the freezer—and this new Frosty flavor channels that same experience.
This collaboration is unlike the average Frosty—instead of just one flavor, the Thin Mints Frosty can be made with a base of either chocolate or vanilla. What makes it extra special is a Thin Mint drizzle spread throughout the cup, finished with a “W” pattern on the top.
I had the chance to try the new limited-edition Frosty in both varieties—here are my unfiltered thoughts.
Vanilla Thin Mint Frosty
Fun fact: Wendy’s locations can only accommodate two Frosty flavors at a time. So any time they’re serving special flavors, they’ll always put vanilla on pause to make room for the limited-edition Frosty. This Thin Mint collaboration, however, was made with vanilla fans (A.K.A. me) in mind.
First, let’s unpack the Thin Mint drizzle that makes this Frosty special. Unsurprisingly, it tastes like chocolate and mint. What will surprise you, however, is the texture. The chocolatey syrup is studded with cookie crumbs, adding a fun counter to the creamy Frosty base.
The most accurate word I can think to describe this sensation is grainy—but I don’t mean it in a bad way. The crumbs are actually my favorite part of the Thin Mint Frosty. Think: the delicious, crunchy part of an ice cream cake.
Paired with the vanilla base, the minty component of the drizzle really shines. It’s not dissimilar to the flavor you get when eating Thin Mints with a glass of milk.
Chocolate Thin Mint Frosty
While the vanilla Frosty highlights the mint flavor, the chocolate Frosty doubles down on the decadence. This version is rich, a little less sweet, and full of chocolate flavor. You can still definitely pick up on the mint notes, but the chocolate is what really shines here.
For full transparency, I typically prefer vanilla Frosties over chocolate. But when it comes to the Thin Mint collaboration, the chocolate version was definitely my favorite.
That being said, there’s one drawback to the Thin Mint Frosty—it’s not ideal for fry dipping. The chocolate and mint mixed with the salty and crispy French fry tastes overwhelming (and not in a good way). But that definitely shouldn’t deter you from ordering this limited-edition flavor.
The Thin Mint Frosty is available starting today at stores nationwide. And at 4,200 participating locations (that’s over 70% of stores), Girl Scouts will have booths set up in case you want to buy yourself a box.
