Things not on my bingo card this year? People re-creating C-sections on their "gender reveal" cakes. Yup. You read that right. Just when you thought that over-the-top reveals couldn't get any cringier, parents-to-be decided it would be a good/cute/fun (???) idea to create cakes that actually depict a pregnant woman. When cutting into her actual belly, a color or miniature baby will be revealed, unveiling the little one's sex. What in the Black Mirror??

Thinking about childbirth is anxiety-provoking enough, but turning it into cake form is just a big no for me — I don't need a visual, especially from something I'd much rather enjoy eating. Instead, these trending cakes make me feel a bit queasy, undermining any joy one typically gets from getting a forkful of fresh cake.

While some of these questionable cakes simply have an added belly you can scoop a spoonful out of to reveal either pink or blue, others require people to press on the "pregnant belly" in order to push out a mini baby that reveals boy or girl. Still other iterations even come complete with an umbilical cord or require you to cut the baby from the belly, mimicking surgery.

Set to cutesy music in the background, this trend is giving more horror movie than precious moment. Talk about unappetizing! Cake is meant to look like food, not surgery. And the internet agrees with me — folks are up in arms over this new trend.

"Horror," commented one user on the Instagram post. Another wrote, "People's stupidity doesn’t have boundaries."

"Like you don’t need to perform an actual surgery FFS," commented one user. "I’m kinda sick rn," someone else wrote.

Another simply stated, "Gender reveals should be banned." After this trend, I can't help but agree.

However, some saw the bright side to this new trend:

"I mean, at least it won’t cause a forest fire."
