I’ve got a medium-hot take on something ice cold – Kacey Musgraves’ new smoothie collaboration with Erewhon just might be better than Hailey Bieber’s viral skincare smoothie. Especially since we’re talking about $20+ smoothies here, Musgraves’ "Deeper Wellness" smoothie is one I'd personally enjoy spending some disposable income on.

The "Deeper Wellness" is also maybe the most Instagrammable item I’ve seen strolling out of the popular Los Angeles-based health food store: dreamy, swirly ocean blue spirulina-coconut cream and a grassy-green chlorella-tinged drizzle make for a drink that doubles as a statement piece as well as a supplement that just might give you more “clarity and focus.” Compared to the Bieber smoothie (which reminds me of a strawberry milkshake), I found Musgraves' smoothie to be less sweet and more earthy, yet a bit richer. It was way more my speed, flavor-wise, especially as someone who doesn't mind eating—and seeing—my greens.

Most importantly? It tastes kind of like a chocolate chip milkshake. But unlike a milkshake, this smoothie is loaded with a laundry list of ingredients (and purported benefits) that more than merit the price tag. There’s MALK organic almond milk, Beyond Good pure ground vanilla, and Host Defense lion’s mane mushroom powder for focus, chocho plant protein, maca, and astragalus for boosting energy and immunity, as well as superfoods such as sea moss, Sun chlorella, collagen, mesquite, lucuma, tocos, KOS blue spirulina.

Along with the organic dates and cacao nibs for an unexpected richness, I’d say you hardly taste too much grassiness, despite the look and ingredient list. The earthiness is present, but not more than you might taste in a green tea or matcha latte.

Truth be told, I did enjoy this smoothie not long after enjoying a Philly cheesesteak and an Eagles Super Bowl win — balance is important to me. Similarly, and in true Angeleno fashion, I enjoyed this smoothie from the comfort of my car, and might do the same again a few more times before the promotion ends at Erewhon locations on March 3, 2025.

While this is a pricey beverage, it's only available for a limited time and the proceeds of the "Deeper Wellness" smoothie will go to support Altadena Girls, a nonprofit focused on restoring normalcy and a sense of self to teen girls who lost their homes in the Eaton Fire. So for the added benefit of some inner clarity and restoration, you’ll also be allowing for some (literal) restoration for young teens who’ve gone through a heartbreaking loss. And that’s more than enough reason to find a “deeper well(ness).”
