When you go to a wedding reception, you're often given the familiar choice of chicken, steak, or fish for your entree. Unfortunately, kitchen mishaps do happen, and that chicken dish you ordered may arrive as fish instead. But imagine the jaw-dropping moment when wedding guests were given a piping-hot serving of instant ramen noodles instead of the chicken or fish they were promised.
According to one Redditor, that is exactly what happened to the guests at the "tackiest" wedding ever.
"Wedding invite asked 'chicken or fish.' On the day of, all attendees received instant ramen," they wrote in an online post shared last week.
Many people in the comments were offended by the "rude" ramen offering.
"I’ve seen weddings where instant ramen was the late night snack (which sounds so good tbh) but serving that as the main meal while making your guests dress formal is such a bad look, how rude," said one person.
"I can’t understand people who skimp on the meal, it’s the thing that people talk about the most afterwards," read another comment.
Sadly, ramen is just a taste of how bad reception food can get. One user on Reddit revealed that they went to a wedding where condiment-less cold cuts were served.
"I went to one where dinner was cold cuts, Kraft singles, and Wonder bread. No condiments, no extra toppings, no sides, nothing. And just water to drink. It was so awful that my brother and I sneaked out to get fast food," they said.
And then, there was the one couple who offered guests KFC meal boxes (the Redditor did admit that they were on a budget).
"I attended a wedding where they served boxed meals from KFC. Gotta say, I thought it was tacky at the time but they were poor as church mice ... and so really, it was pretty nice," read one comment.
And if that sounds familiar it's likely because a couple pulled a similar move just last year when they served McDonald's at their reception.
