Avo-lovers, rejoice: now avocados can be rightly worshipped and celebrated at Easter too. Courtesy of Waitrose, fans will now be able to tuck into a giant easter egg which looks exactly like the tasty, soft green fruit this April.
The Waitrose Chocolate Avocado comes in a dark chocolate shell, which opens to smooth white chocolate with natural green coloring and a cocoa dusted 'stone' — resembling a giant avocado.
But chocolate fans can rest-assured — despite looking just like a giant avocado — the egg is actually made using 100% chocolate, with no avocado flavoring. So it tastes like chocolate, and definitely not an avocado. Think of it more as a homage to the green fruit.
The shell and stone are Belgian chocolate (made with 70% cocoa), while the white chocolate middle uses natural colouring to imitate the green flesh of the fruit. Kate Kind, Product Developer, said: "Inspired by the continued trend for all things avocado, we wanted to create a fun addition to our Easter range and are really excited about the launch of our new Easter egg.
"If you're an 'avo-lover' with a sweet tooth, this unique twist on the classic egg makes the perfect Easter treat and will provide a fun talking point among family and friends this season."
Unfortunately, the new Waitrose Chocolate Avocado is only available in Waitrose branches in the United Kingdom, and doesn't yet deliver to the U.S. Here's hoping the idea hops across the pond before Easter!
