New York City is known to be pretty expensive, but this is on a whole other level. The Big Apple is filled with delis and shops that serve up some of the best bagels, and one could even argue they're the best you'll find in the U.S. Every local has their favorite that's better than all the others, but does putting a $1,000 price tag on a bagel make it the best?

The Westin New York at Times Square is offering an insanely expensive bagel starting November 1 through December 15. The bagel is smeared with white truffle cream cheese and goji-berry-infused riesling jelly, and it's topped off with gold flakes. Now, before you go thinking, "Who in their right mind would pay $1,000 for a bagel that doesn't even look that tasty?" know that the money made from this limited-time offer goes to charity. The Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen is New York City's largest emergency food program. They'll be receiving all the proceeds the hotel makes from the golden breakfast.

The bagel has reappeared multiple times since its debut in 2007, and it's coming back by popular demand. Tax and tip are included in the price, but you'll have to order it 24 hours in advance for them to prepare it. You'd think the gold flakes are what makes the price of this decadent breakfast so high, but it's actually the white truffle. A spokeswoman for the hotel says that it's the second most expensive food in the world (right behind caviar). It's grown in Italy's Alba region under oak trees, and it's found by trained dogs and pigs.

You'd better hurry up, because there's only a month and a half left to order the golden-flaked bagel. If anyone says you're ridiculous for spending that much on it, you can remind them that it's all for a good cause.
