Busy Philipps has always looked flawless on screen, from the time she first appeared as Kim Kelly on Freaks and Geeks in 1999 and her first season as Audrey Liddell on Dawson's Creek in 2001 to her role today in the HBO comedy Vice Principals. The star has also built a 664,000-strong social-media following thanks to her hilarious Instagram stories. Through the BTS moments Busy shares with the world, it's easy to confirm the 38-year-old looks dynamite (i.e., glowing and healthy AF) IRL, too.
She recently shared the method behind her magic:
A Day in the Life of Busy Philipps
Early Morning
On weekdays, I wake up at 6 a.m. to get my daughter Birdie, 9, to the bus on time, and Cricket, 4, to preschool.
I make Bulletproof coffee every day — I've been doing it for almost a year now. It is 8 to 10 ounces of freshly-brewed coffee, 2 tablespoons of grass-fed butter or Ghee (I use Kerrygold butter), 1 Tbs of Brain Octane Oil, and 2 scoops of BulletProof brand Collagen Protein Powder. It's supposed to jumpstart your metabolism, and I think the collagen powder has had a huge impact on my skin's overall texture and smoothness.
Mid-morning
After I drop Birdie at the bus and Cricket at preschool, I head to LEKFit, a fitness studio in Los Angeles, for a Bounce class. [Ed's note: Bounce is an hourlong high-intensity cardio class involving mini trampolines.] On days when I have time — only once or twice a week — I'll try to squeeze in a Sculpt class as well. [Ed: Sculpt is a 50-minute LEKFit ballet- and yoga-inspired class for full-body toning and muscle recovery.]
I get crazy sweaty, and it's my favorite workout in the world. It's totally changed my body and my life!
Lunchtime
After class, I go to Kreation Organic Juice Bar and get a giant bottle of Chlorophyll water. [Ed's note: Kreation says this water is "valuable for its healing properties, removing toxic heavy metals, and reducing inflammation," and science suggests chlorophyll could reduce inflammation, although more research is needed.]
I also pick up a salad from Kreation for lunch and typically eat between 1 and 2 p.m. I like the Cobb salad or the salmon wrapped in collard green leaves.
After lunch I have one more coffee: I like iced coffee from Starbucks with a splash of nonfat milk in it. (I'm not opposed to full-fat milk, I just weirdly like the taste of nonfat better.)
Afternoon
If I snack, it's generally hummus on Rice-Thins or Nut-Thins crackers and some guacamole. If I need something sweet, I have dark chocolate chips stashed in my freezer, and I'll eat a few to satisfy my sweet tooth — but only if there aren't any cinnamon gummy bears around. I'm a sucker for those!
Dinnertime
When the girls get home from school and their activities, I make something we can all eat for dinner, like ground turkey with marinara sauce. I eat it over greens and asparagus, and serve whole-wheat pasta to the girls.
Weekends
I really try to do and eat the same thing every day when I'm home and in my routine. So on weekends, I still drink Bulletproof in the morning and go to LEKfit Bounce or Fusion [Ed: Fusion is an LEKfit class that combines high-intensity cardio and muscle-sculpting], and then I have a salad for lunch. I'll eat anything I want for dinner if we go out with friends — I won't be stringent about dessert, carbs, or fried foods.
And I love a margarita on weekends!
