Ree Drummond has invited you into her family home (via her blog and Food Network show), her shop and restaurant, and even her ranch—and now, the Pioneer Woman wants you to come stay with her at The Boarding House, the new hotel she's opening with the Marlboro Man.
Yep, y'all read that right: Your favorite Food Network star (and new "cover 'gal") finally revealed what she and her husband, Ladd, are doing with one of the two old buildings they recently acquired, and it's going to make you want to visit Pawhuska, Oklahoma, ASAP. Here's what we know about the Pioneer Woman's exciting new project:
It will be called The Boarding House.
Throughout the renovations, the Pioneer Woman has referred to the building as a "boarding house" since, as she wrote on her blog, "hotel doesn't sound right." The name must have stuck, because Ree revealed the hotel's official name in the caption of new photos: The Boarding House.
The Boarding House is right down the street from "The Merc."
That means it's basically bound to be fully booked year-round. Since opening its doors last fall, The Pioneer Woman Mercantile has attracted 6,000 visitors a day on average—and that's in a town of only 3,477 (as of 2016). With a hotel on the way, soon some of those people will have a place in town to stay.
An opening date is coming soon.
"We'll know soon what our opening date will be, and as soon as we can commit to that, we'll open the boarding house/bunk house/hotel/inn up for reservations," the Pioneer Woman teased in November.
The Drummonds opted to renovate rather than build.
Pioneer Woman and Marlboro Man have already proven they're pros at breathing life back into old buildings. They did so with the old Osage Mercantile, now The Pioneer Woman Mercantile, and The Boarding House, as well as the building adjacent to it, will surely follow suit. Here's the "before" picture of the front of the Drummonds' newest properties:
There will be eight rooms.
"The three story building is going to be an 8-room hotel with suites so comfortable and cozy, Marlboro and I are going to want to move into one," Ree explained. "We won't, of course, but just think of the reduction in chores it would mean!!!!"
Each room has a name.
In the Pioneer Woman's January update, she listed "The Tack Room" (complete with coffered ceilings and stained paneling), "The Butterfly Room" (with the most beautiful bathroom tile you ever did see), and "The Drugstore Room."
The Boarding House used to be a drugstore.
Inside The Boarding House, an old mural reading "Puryear's Drug Store" recalls the history of the structure. The Pioneer Woman plans to keep it, making that section the common area.
They're preserving what they can...
Expect to see multiple old murals from the space's drugstore days, plus salvaged ceiling tiles repurposed in interesting ways.
...and implementing gorgeous new designs.
We already told you about the tile in "The Butterfly Room," but check out some of the other bathroom floors. The whole hotel sounds like it will be stunning. The second floor boasts a balcony that doubles as an awning for the ground floor—an idea Ree said they borrowed from a building in downtown Houston. There will be ferns hanging from the railings, she added. The layout of the bathrooms will be inspired by another hotel, which the Drummonds stayed in recently (see more photos on her blog post).
It's Marlboro Man's "baby."
Ree stresses that Marlboro Man is the main man behind this particular project. "I have had almost zero to do with it aside from an occasional 'Oooooh, neato!'" Ree writes. "The helpfulness of my contributions can not be underestimated. Ha."
