What do you and the world's second richest man have in common? Unfortunately, unless you're Bill Gates, it's definitely not cash. Rather, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos — who's worth a whopping $85.5 billion dollars — admitted that the secret to his continued success is pizza.
Now that's a strategy we can all get behind. Bezos deemed it the "two pizza rule" and it basically goes like this: Two boxes of pizza should be able to feed every person in the room. It's his way of ensuring that meetings are kept small and never take up too much time, and that creativity is never diminished, Business Insider reports.
Perhaps the Wall Street Journal puts it best: "[Bezos] wanted a decentralized, even disorganized company where independent ideas would prevail over groupthink." But Bezos also avoids early morning meetings, so he's basically the most relatable CEO ever.
Now we can assume that massive deal where he purchased Whole Foods was struck between only a few people. Because ultimately two boxes of pizza only feeds around 8 to 10 moderately hungry people, four really hungry people, or just me.
Bezos also revealed some other tips for successful meetings like having a strong moderator and firm ground rules, while making sure that every person is reminded of the meeting's relevance to them. However, those tips are just not nearly as important as ensuring that every meeting you attend includes pizza.
