Someone spent $117,000 on this BMW that's vinyl-wrapped in a spaghetti print. As those words sink in, several whys are probably running through your mind. As in, why does this car exist? Why is it wrapped in spaghetti? Why does someone think it's worth more than most people make in a year?! And, most importantly, why would anyone shell out that much money for it?!

Well, when Leonardo DiCaprio's involved, people open their wallets. Seriously. Let us back up for a second.

Every year since 2013 the actor has hosted a fundraising gala in St. Tropez, France, where he invites all his famous friends and other wealthy donors to contribute his namesake foundation, which is dedicated to the "long-term health of Earth and all its inhabitants."

This year, during the auction portion of the event, someone dropped $117,000 on a BMW i3 covered in a vinyl wrap of spaghetti, Autoblog reports. All of the proceeds go toward preventing animal extinction, increasing sources of renewable energy (to combat climate change), and protecting the ocean.

Though the funds are helping save the planet, we're still in shock that this carb-loaded car even exists. Seriously, this thing might be just as kitschy as Oscar Meyer's Weinermobile.

What's more, the SUV is typically sold for $50,000 at a dealership, which means the unnamed patron paid $67,000 extra dollars to purchase a luxury vehicle covered in saucy noodles.

The "Spaghetti Car" was designed by the duo known as TOILETPAPER (AKA Italian artists Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari) and was unveiled by BMW last summer. Even though the German auto company does feature a car decorated by a well-known modern artist (called the BMW Art Car), "Spaghetti Car" was not a part of that release – but rather an exhibition for a photography festival held in France in the fall. Now, it's headed to a very lucky collector in Switzerland, rather than being destroyed, as Cattelan requested.

All in all, we agree ... it's the perfect spaghetaway car.
