In case you missed it, Lyft recently announced a partnership that that seemed like a dream come true: As of this week, passengers can begin requesting rides with stops to Taco Bell drive-thru windows between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

During your ride, the ability to stop at a Taco Bell drive-thru will appear as an option called "Taco Mode," the New York Times reports. And even though the offer is only available as a test-run in Orange County, CA for the next two weeks, the New York-based company plans to roll out the concept nationwide in 2018.

If you're thinking "Wow, that sounds like a great idea," you are certainly not a Lyft driver. Though it's sold as a perfect way to satisfy those late-night munchies, everyone knows that 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. are prime intoxication hours, and adding tacos to a car filled with drunk people is asking for trouble.

Drivers employed by the ride-share service apparently had no idea this was coming, and took to Twitter immediately to shame Lyft for the collaboration. Since drivers are paid by the mile and no additional compensation was promised, very few drivers were open to the idea.

These drivers made their voices loud and clear. But Lyft was quick to respond, saying that driver and passenger participation is completely optional.

This announcement comes right on the heels of McDonald's partnership with Uber Eats, which expanded McDonald's delivery nationwide. They say the fastest way to a person's heart is through his stomach; clearly, the nation's top taxi apps have taken note.
