Earlier this month, we caught wind of an actual avocado bar opening up in Brooklyn, and we totally freaked. We have just a *teensy* bit of an obsession with the delicious green fruit (we're not alone, right?), and would probably incorporate it into every meal if we could.

And apparently we'd be healthier if we did: An April 2017 review of studies by a group of Iranian researchers found that eating avocados every day (yes, every day!) might help people manage and prevent the symptoms of metabolic syndrome.

As a refresher, metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that, when they occur together, can increase a person's risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Researchers examined 129 past studies on avocados (including those done on the flesh, skin, oil, and leaves) and their effects on blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess belly fat, and abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels — all the conditions that make up metabolic syndrome. The researchers ultimately found that avocados had the strongest effect on cholesterol levels, but they helped in fighting other metabolic syndrome symptoms, too.

Although the researchers say that more studies should be conducted on the different parts of avocados (think: flesh vs. leaves) to figure out which are best for reaping which benefits, their findings pretty solidly confirm what we already know: Avocados are basically the greatest superfood around.

And if scientists say they want us to eat more of the green stuff? We're on it!
