Dessert lovers, we've got the sweetest news. According to The Junk Food Aisle, Hostess, the beloved brand that brought us Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and those classic squiggly-line cupcakes, has added to their long, chocolatey lineage.
Hostess's new initiative, Hostess Bake Shop, offers treasures like white-fudge drizzled Twinkies covered in rainbow sprinkles, triple-dunked Ding Dongs (and you thought once-dipped was divine) and — wait for it — that iconic cupcake, reinvented in cookie form. That cookie, with 10 to a box will be sold at Costco, among other places.
According to William D. Toler, President and CEO of Hostess Brands, Inc., the new Twinkies and Ding Dongs are also on their way. "The Hostess Bake Shop is literally just starting," he told Food Business News. "I think our first shipments on the cupcake cookie were in late February, early March."
Looks like Hostess is starting with the cookie and will roll out the other products in later months — and now we understand why they say that patience is a virtue.
According to what Toler told Food Business News, it doesn't sound like the Hostess Bake Shop line is Costco or whole-sale exclusive. Beyond the packaged dessert aisle, the company is now targeting in-store bakeries (that's where these new guys live!), something they haven't done before.
Ahh, it's a brave, new chocolate-covered world for Hostess lovers, and we're just happy to be living in it. Costco trip, anyone?

We got a look at the new Hostess Bakery items and damn were they delish. Check out the chocolate-covered Twinkies, in all their sprinkled glory:
We can't decide if we like these or the bake-at-home fried Twinkies better. And the Hostess Cupcake Cookies—which are like New York's iconic black-and-whites—taste like the best part of your favorite convenience store snack: the top of those pillowy cakes and all the thick frosting on top. Mmm.
