McDonald's fans everywhere were totally outraged over the loss of Chicken Selects. Mostly because they were so obviously superior to plain old chicken nuggets. Nationwide mourning ensued when the fried chicken strips were discontinued, but today there's hope. Something very similar is coming back to Mickey D's menus.
They're not quite "selects," but new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders are being tested at 138 locations in the Charlotte, NC area. Brand Eating reports that these chicken strips are made with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, which is in line with the fast-food chain's new initiative to serve healthier chicken.
The tenders are dipped in buttermilk and given a shower of "authentic seasonings" before getting deep-fried. And order also come with a new "signature" sauce, which McDonald's said is "slightly tangy and sweet."
No details on when or if the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders will be available nationwide, so keep your fingers crossed. I'm still a little bit upset over the loss of the Chicken Selects, but at least these tenders look like a delish replacement.
