We've all been on the receiving end of a seemingly endless stream of text messages, whether they be from that ex that still loves you or your friends roasting you in the group chat. But what if those texts were coming from ... Papa John's?
TMZ reports that a man named Jonathan Anozie said he began to receive texts from the pizza chain, even though he never signed up for said texts. The texts were mostly coupon deals, with one offering a deal for 2 large pizzas with up to 5 toppings for $9.99 each.
Anozie wasn't in the mood for pizza, (I've never felt that emotion before), so he decided to text STOP to the chain in order for the messages to come to an end. However, Papa John's didn't stop, and Jonathan says that the texts were so intrusive that he now suffers from significant anxiety, frustration and annoyance. He decided to sue the company for the pain that they caused him.
Anozie didn't specify how often the pizza chain texted him, and Papa John's hasn't responded to the lawsuit yet, so we'll just have to wait and see how this one plays out. Maybe we'll snack on some slices in the meantime.
