Bob Harper, a longtime trainer and host of The Biggest Loser, suffered a serious heart attack two weeks ago, TMZ reports. He was working out at a gym in New York when he collapsed. Thankfully, a doctor was also working out nearby and administered CPR and used paddles to save his life.
Harper, 51, was unconscious for two days and woke up in a hospital, where he stayed for eight days total. He has not yet been given the OK to fly back to his home in Los Angeles, and for now can only walk around, not exercise as usual. The fitness expert, who has taught season after season of contestants about living a healthy lifestyle, told TMZ that genetics were to blame for his heart attack, as his mother died from one.
It's unclear whether this health issue will affect his role as host of The Biggest Loser; he has appeared on all 17 seasons but only took over as main host in 2016. So far, there hasn't been a response online from the show or his costars.
