Since the food blog, Two Peas and Their Pod, is Maria Lichty's full-time job, her pantry is essentially her office. It's here that she whips up baked goods and inspiring entertaining ideas to share with her readers. Because of that, when her family was building a new house, they made sure the pantry was spacious (to say the least). The results? Well, let's put it this way: Lichty says it's her favorite room in her home. And we can see why.
For starters, the entire room was designed around her wall of KitchenAid Mixers and candy. No, fellow bakers, this isn't heaven — but it's certainly close. "We switch out the mixers during different seasons and we also use them all when we have cooking classes or friends over to bake," she told HouseBeautiful.com. Talk about the definition of baking goals.
The opposite side of the room is strictly for storage, but that doesn't mean it's not stylish. Lichty opted for open shelving with a shiplap lining and a bright white backdrop for her colorful foods and cooking tools. When you have this much space, you can even devote two shelves (yes, two!) to your favorite chocolate. Sigh.
To keep the room practical, Lichty added a secret under counter refrigerator and freezer drawers. That way, she doesn't have to walk into her adjacent kitchen to grab ice or (even better) ice cream when she's making her latest treat.
She also wanted to make sure her pantry blended seamlessly with her kitchen. "I like having a space off the kitchen that I can use when we are entertaining," she says. "I love plating desserts in the pantry and bringing them out to our guests." Genius. We also love how her gorgeous wall of cookbooks right outside of the pantry is just as bright and bold as the inside of it. Hey, when something works, why try to fix it?
