The Internet isn't all fake news — Mars has confirmed that Cupcake M&M's exist, and sent us a pack to prove it. After sampling the sweets, we can say they really do taste like candied cake batter (much like birthday cake fudge, actually).

They have a white chocolate base and are larger than the typical plain M&M — much like the Cheesecake and Boo-terscotch varieties — and they're being sold at Target stores exclusively.

Whenever a new M&Ms flavor drops, our hearts skip a beat. And for good reason. The chocolate giant has produced winners like creamy hot chocolate, nutty pecan pie, sweet white chocolate cheesecake, and—take a breath—the highly anticipated caramel. Now the brand is rumored to be releasing a new vanilla cupcake flavor.

First spotted by the snack-focused Instagram account Junk Banter, the new candies are coated in pastel colors like lavender, soft yellow, pale pink, baby blue, and soft green. They look awfully Easter-themed and the rumor is they will arrive in stores once Valentine's Day is over.

They are allegedly a white chocolate base flavored like vanilla cupcakes and will be exclusively sold at Target. We're still waiting to get the final details from M&M's parent company, Mars, so stay tuned for updates on pricing, how long they will be available, and—obviously—what they really taste like.
