Avocados are the trickiest food to shop for. You blink and suddenly they go from not ripe to overripe. And when you're buying them, you can never be quite certain that squeezing for softness is telling you what you need to know.

So, finally, some genius invented a tool to tell us once and for all the ripeness status of our avocados. These little stickers, which Mic points out appear to be from a New Zealand-based company called Freshmax, show the different colors of the skin which indicate whether or not the fruit is ready to eat.

Reddit user TrojanWabbit first posted a photo of the game-changing little invention about the month ago, but no word yet on when and where we can get them in the US.

Until that day comes, we're stuck trusting those very suspect "Ripe Now" stickers.
