Hostess Brands LLC has voluntarily recalled its limited-edition Holiday White Peppermint Twinkies due to a risk of salmonella contamination, according to the Food & Drug Administration. The products under scrutiny were sold at supermarkets, grocery stores, and mass merchandisers across the country—no specific dates have been marked at risk.

The contamination problem seems to have stemmed from the Bloomer Chocolate Company, the company that supplies the white chocolate confectionary coating used on the snacks. The white chocolate contains a milk powder that may have been contaminated. To that end, no other Hostess product has been affected.

Although salmonella can cause serious complications and even death in young children and elderly people, no illnesses have been reported thus far. The company urges anyone who may have purchased the item to return them for a full refund.
