While this cake looks like a classic Christmas pudding, it's actually a chocolate cake covered in malt balls—which is great news if the prune, raisin and suet combo found in a traditional recipe doesn't sound appetizing to you. Don't know what suet is? You can look it up, or you can just trust us that this chocolate candy version is much, much tastier.

British university student Natalie Tyner created this Christmas treat by baking a dome-shaped chocolate cake and covering it in ganache and Maltesers, a chocolate malt ball popular in the UK and other Commonwealth countries like Australia and Canada.

Whoppers are the closest thing we have in the U.S. to Maltesers, but if you want the real deal you can pick up a package of them on Amazon, World Market or The British Food Depot here in the States.

To put the finishing touches on this malt ball Christmas pudding, pour melted white chocolate over it to mimic the traditional custard sauce and top with candied cherries and a sprig of holly.
