Whether you're dealing with tight kitchen space or just don't like fishing through full drawers for the one utensil you need, it's always helpful to pare down and organize your cooking arsenal. And now, according to The Kitchn, there's not one but six tools you can replace with just a standard whisk.

Editors at the culinary site suggest putting your whisk to better use—and tossing the excess gadgets and appliances that are only taking up space. Here's what they say to trash: ice cream makers, stand mixers, immersion blenders, milk frothers, potato mashers, and sifters.

Not convinced your humble whisk can do all this? Think again. Whisks are just as good if not better than milk frothers at bubbling up the dairy for your coffee—just twirl it between your palms. You can also skip sifting flour by whipping all of your dry ingredients together with a whisk.

Stand mixers are beautiful and, as much as we love ours, it is enormous and was ridiculously expensive. We can't nix the investment entirely since it nails so many different tasks, but if you're only using it to whirl whipped cream, butter, batters, and meringues, then you don't need anything more than the whisk.
