When photos of Oreo's newest flavor first leaked online, it seemed like an all-too-realistic Photoshop job, like the Spam, Cheeseburger and Dill Pickle ones that keep getting shared everywhere. We didn't believe it—or perhaps didn't want to—but today, a representative for Oreo confirmed: The gummy-candy-meets-chocolate-cookie mashup is real.

These Oreos are only sold in Kroger stores, though one enterprising individual has already posted a bag on eBay, for anyone who lives too far from the Ohio-based supermarket chain. It features the brand's classic sandwich cookies, surrounding a fire engine-red creme filling that's supposed to taste like Swedish Fish. One can only assume that must mean waxy, with a hint of fruity flavoring that's something like cherry, lingonberry or postage stamp glue, depending on who you ask.

If you find the mash-up perplexing, you're not alone. "Nabisco might as well have printed the word "WHY?" on the side of every wafer," writes The Impulsive Buy in its review of the treats, describing the creme as less fluffy, more "sticky, chewy and dare I say...slimy." The author goes on to describe it cracking apart like "a child's Play-Doh diorama of the Berlin Wall."

After reading a description like that, how could you resist calling off work and breaking the speed limit like there's a woman in labor in your backseat, racing to get to these 10.7-ounce containers of fruity-yet-chocolatey cookies?!

While unexpected, this flavor combination shouldn't be too shocking to longtime Oreo fans (AKA anyone with a childhood). The brand's veered into fruity flavors before, releasing Key Lime Pie, Fruit Punch and Watermelon before, and it's dabbled in partnerships, like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreos.

The big difference? Oreo typically pairs its fruity creme fillings with vanilla cookies; chocolate seems a bit jarring, particularly when the frosting's based on a gummy candy. However, if you think about it, the cherry-esque flavor of Swedish Fish (the brand's stayed mum on what, exactly, the flavor is, beyond deeming it "fruity") could make the cookie taste like a chocolate-covered cherry.

Early reviews seem mixed, like this family of five, whose reactions range from an adorable toddler's proclamation that "they're yummy, Dad," to his equally cute oldest daughter's full spectrum of emotions, which go from "It's actually pretty good" to "no, no, no, no, nope, no—not good," all in the span of a few seconds. See it for yourself:

These Oreos are only available for a limited time, so hit up eBay or Kroger ASAP if you're feeling bold enough to try them for yourself.
