If you only know Jenna Dewan Tatum as the girl from Step Up who married Channing Tatum, you're missing out. The actress holds her own against Supergirl in the CBS-turned-CW series, and she was just nominated for an Emmy for her performance with choreographer Travis Wall on So You Think You Can Dance.
Between dancing, acting and running after her 3-year-old daughter, Everly, we naturally wondered: Does she live off of bulletproof coffee that's steeped in Red Bull? How does she stay energized?! The July/August issue of Women's Health—and Instagram—had just the answer.
She Goes Green at Breakfast.
Dewan Tatum starts each day with a green smoothie, which has many of the typical ingredients—spinach, kale, lemon, apple, banana, a splash of water and, occasionally, pear—along with two less-expected ones: Cod liver oil and black sesame seeds. Though the article doesn't say why she adds those ingredients, cod liver oil has been linked to lowering blood pressure, and black sesame seeds are a good source of fiber and vitamin B1, plus they add a nutty flavor.
The star says she notices a difference all-around when she drinks smoothies. "My skin, my hair, my energy—everything's better," she told the magazine.
Meal Prepping Saves Her at Lunch.
Dewan Tatum's all about grab-and-go meals, which often means planning big-batch meals that will keep for a few days. "I'm part Lebanese—my dad's family—so I grew up with tabouli. It's my favorite," she says.
Another go-to meal? Quinoa and salad.
The mix of protein and vegetables keeps her feeling full, and fuels her throughout the 45-minute power workouts she does while her daughter's at school.
She Keeps It Colorful at Dinner.
The actress is big on brown rice bowls, which she loads up with black beans and a rainbow of roasted vegetables, like carrots, purple potatoes, butternut squash, asparagus and zucchini. She'll top it off with some tahini sauce or a drizzle of olive oil with salt and pepper.
She Kicks Back with a Cold One.
Before heading to the Golden Globes, Dewan Tatum 'grammed her essentials: a Heineken, Fiji water, a box of tissues, a Runa Berry energy drink and two packs of Starburst candy.
Hey, just because she's insanely fit doesn't mean she won't treat herself every now and then.
