UPDATE: July 29, 2016 at 11:41 p.m.
The day we've all been waiting for is finally here! Today, the official Museum of Ice Cream opens its doors in New York City. While the pop-up is only open until August 31st and tickets are sold out through that date, guests can visit the museum for free today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and check out their Instagram for ticket giveaways.
The first thing guests are greeted with when they walk in the door is a cup of ice cream from an NYC-based ice cream shop. First up, vanilla ice cream from Blue Marble, Daily News reports.
Guests are then treated to a display of edible balloons, made using a helium tank and sugar, which means that, yup, your voice will sound high-pitch and squeaky if you breathe in the helium. The Willy Wonka-esque chocolate-themed room is next, complete with chocolate-scenting and a chocolate fountain.
The most magical area of the museum is next: the rainbow sprinkles pool. While the pool isn't actually filled with sprinkles, but instead with inedible rainbow-colored beads, we would still love to snap a pic of it for our Insta, you know?
In the last part of the museum, guests are given the opportunity to take a glycoprotein pill, which changes the way your body interprets flavors. You'll be handed an ice cream cone topped with a lemon slice and eat the whole thing, rather than puckering your lips and cringing away.
What do you think? Will you be giving the Museum of Ice Cream a visit?

It's no secret that sprinkles can make basically anything better. Honestly, did you even have that ice cream cone if it wasn't totally covered in sprinkles? And now we can all take our sugar obsession even farther now that there's an entire museum dedicated to ice cream—complete with a swimming pool full of sprinkles.
Opening in New York as a pop-up from July 29 to August 31, the Museum of Ice Cream will be totally interactive, with lick-able components to the exhibits—just like Willy Wonka's factory. There's a rainbow sprinkle pool you can actually swim in, edible balloons, an immersive chocolate room, and a collaborative giant-size ice cream sundae.
There's also a playground with themed jungle-gym components like an ice cream sandwich swing and a seesaw ice cream scoop. As for the ice cream you can sink your teeth into, it comes from the city's top scoop shops, including Oddfellows Ice Cream Co., Black Tap, and more.
Admission for adults is $18 and includes an ice cream; for kids it's just $12 with a cone. The museum will be open in Manhattan's Meatpacking district Wednesday to Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. And you might want to reserve your tickets since this is will only be around for one month.
