Last year, McDonald's totally changed the game and started serving breakfast items all day. But then they disappointed us all by telling us the menu would be extremely limited. No locations would serve both biscuit-based and English muffin-based breakfast sandwiches after 11 a.m. (The South usually got biscuits, while the rest of the country got muffins.) But now, after months of suffering, our national nightmare is over.
McDonald's just announced that from now on, they'll serve McMuffin, biscuit, and McGriddle sandwiches as part of its all-day breakfast menu. The chain announced the change on Twitter, citing customers who complained about their favorite breakfast items not being available all day:
Here's what the expanded menu will have: Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Sausage McMuffin, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit, Sausage Biscuit with Egg, Sausage Biscuit, Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddles, Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddles, Sausage McGriddles, Hotcakes, Hotcakes and Sausage, Sausage Burrito, Fruit & Maple Oatmeal, Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfait and hash browns. It will vary by restaurant, but still, this is a huge change.
USA Today reports that all day breakfast has been a huge boost to McDonald's sales. The chain says that sales increased 5.4 percent because of all-day breakfast and the McPick 2 menu. The Associated Press notes that the new menu will hit stores in late August and into September.
