Of all of the creative and amazing things humans have done with Coca-Cola and Mentos over the years, this ranks toward the very top.
YouTuber TechRax, also known as Taras Maksimuk, filled a 1,500 pool with Coca-Cola (plus a little Pepsi) and topped it off with a bunch of Mentos, nearly 200 pounds of ice, and, lastly, his friend Ryan. He also decided — what the hell — why not fly his DJI Phantom 4 drone directly into the pool.
The video has since gone viral, with more than 19 million views and counting.
Here's a breakdown of exactly what happened at this momentous event.
First up, Maksimuk shows us the supplies: Coke, Mentos, lots of ice, and a drone.
He shows the pool being filled to the brim with the very last Coke bottle, to authenticate the pool's Coke-ness.
First in are the Mentos, which fizz as expected.
Next up, 200 pounds of ice — a necessity, because nobody likes warm soda and, as Maksimuk notes, the pool has been sitting in the sun for hours.
Ryan, the brave soul who volunteered as tribute, gets a running start as he jumps in the pool, with a bottle of Coke in his hand.
Maksimuk asks Ryan how it feels to be swimming in a pool filled with Coke. "It feels like I'm in a pool with Coke, man," Ryan answers, poetically.
Now, it's drone time. Watch the drone fly to it's death in the pool.
But ultimately, the drone footage was worth it, we think?
"It's all sticky," Maksimuk astutely notes while inspecting the drone. "Right here on the iPhone, I'm having an no image message. It doesn't turn on at all. There is Coke literally inside the computer."
And that completes the 1,500 gallon pool of Coke adventure.
