In the wake of Prince's death, fans have mourned the loss of the music legend and paid tribute in various ways—some even honored his memory with special foods like this Prince cookie and Voodoo Doughnut. The authorities are now investigating the possibility that Prince's death was due to an overdose, but the star's personal chef doesn't believe that could have been the case.

Ray Roberts, the man who cooked Prince's meals every day for the last three years told the Associated Press that he doesn't believe Prince had a drug dependency problem. His comments about changes in Prince's diet, however, are bringing his recent eating habits into the conversation about what happened leading up to April 21.

According to Roberts, Prince frequently enjoyed light salads and soups for his meals, as well as dishes like roasted beets and pesto broccolini. Though he never ate meat or allowed others to eat it at his Paisley Park home studio, he seemed to have a healthy appetite until recently. Roberts notes that Prince began eating less, drinking less water and appeared to have lost weight during the two months before he passed away. He'd frequently had a sore throat or upset stomach and began requesting soothing smoothies, fresh juices and other items that are easy to digest.

"It felt like he wasn't himself probably the last month or two," Roberts told the AP. "I think he was just struggling with being sick a lot." Roberts prepared a meal of red pepper bisque with a kale and spring vegetable salad just before Prince passed away, but as it turns out, the star never ate it. Roberts found it in the refrigerator when he returned to the musician's home for his memorial service.

The official cause of death is yet to be announced, but some see Prince's changing diet as a possible clue that he was experiencing other health problems.
