Overripe avocados are the worst. But so is waiting around for an unripe avocado to ripen, especially since that window is seemingly miniscule.
While I'm proud to say it's rare that even an overripe avocado goes to waste in my home (you can toss it in a blender with an equally overripe banana and cocoa power for guilt-free chocolate pudding), it's the unripe ones that pose a particularly difficult challenge. That is, until I discovered this genius hack that will ripen your hard-as-a-rock avocado in just ten minutes. All you need is tin foil, a baking sheet, and an oven.
- Wrap your avocado up in a tin foil blanket and place it on a baking sheet.
- Pop the baking sheet into the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees F. (Depending on how ripe the avocado is prior to baking, it may take a little longer to soften up.)
Voila! Now you have a perfectly ripe avocado. What are you going to do with it? Avocado toast? Tacos loaded with guacamole!? Or perhaps something more creative… like pasta or baked into French fries? We've got plenty of options to choose from.
