Australian chefs captivated sweets lovers across the world with the first iteration of the over-the-top milkshakes a.k.a "freakshakes" (which London tried to later copy). Then Prague tried to top that with donut ice cream cones. And New York threw its hat into the ring with waffle-like puffle cones. But the Aussies are taking back the throne and claiming their rightful place as dessert kings with the churro bowl.
Milky Lane, a café near Bondi Beach in Sydney, isn't slated to open until May 6. Yet it's cinnamon-sugar–coasted churro ice cream bowls have totally taken over Instagram, Facebook, and the rest of the internet. They've even prompted some other food sites to totally rip off the idea and produce how-to videos. But, as usual, nothing is as good as the original and Milky Lane will be serving its churro bowls weeks in advance of its grand opening, beginning April 12.

The madcap creation is fried to perfection, dusted in sweet cinnamon-sugar, then filled with three scoops of vanilla ice cream and topped with heavy-handed pours of caramel and Nutella. Because Australia has a very real and very serious chocolate-hazelnut obsession.
Not only does this dessert put all other edible cones to shame, it ups the ante by being a bowl—which means more ice cream for everyone. And that's always a good thing.
