Chick-fil-A is known for its ehm, strong opinions on things like family values (and how cellphones are destroying them). And now they seem to be taking a very strong position on something a little more in their realm: lettuce. The controversial chain has decided to ban iceberg lettuce use in their recipes because of its lack of nutritional value. Apparently, Chick-fil-A is #TeamKale.
"We have a mandate: Never use iceberg lettuce ... It's at the bottom of the salad food chain," David Farmer, Chick-fil-A vice president of menu strategy and development said to Business Insider. A mandate?! Savage.
Looks like Chick-fil-A is really trying to move on to bigger and better things, and in salad world, that obviously means kale. The chain already has a kale and broccolini side dish that's been available since January and according to Farmer, he's always on the look out for healthy foods to add to the menu.
This health kick is a little funny especially considering that not too long ago Chick-fil-A considered eating eight chicken nuggets every few hours a good idea. But you do you, Chick-fil-A.
If you absolutely have to have iceberg in your chicken sandwich try out this recipe and get crazy with that lettuce.
