Remember last fall when McDonald's decided to go completely ham and create a 48-piece McNugget bucket? Well now the Golden Arches has come up with something even more over-the-top: a double-decker Big Mac that's nearly three times its original size.
Yes, you read that right. And yes, McDonald's is probably trying to give you a heart attack. Dubbed the Giga Big Mac, the limited-edition monster-size burger is more than 2.8 times the size of a conventional Big Mac with two beef patties on each layer. And no doubt extra cheese, pickles, and special sauce, too.
Right now, the hearty sandwich will only available in Japan beginning April 6. It alone, without any fries or soda, goes for 740 yen (about $6.65). And, as the company's site explains, the Giga Big Mac was created for "those seeking a sense of accomplishment"—versus the regular Big Mac, which is apparently for people who just want to satiate a normal appetite. (Though some might argue even that portion is a bit much.)
Rocket News 24 reports that each McDonald's location in Japan will be limited to serving an unspecified amount of these enormous burgers, most likely to keep the restaurants from running out of beef. Typically limited-edition creations like this only last for about a month, so if you're able to get your hands on one of these monstrous numbers, let us know. We wanna see it.
