In what could be either the most genius or most insane food-corporate move of all time, Kraft decided to change its beloved mac and cheese recipe without telling anyone. And we bet you didn't even notice.
While the brand announced it would soon start swapping out artificial flavors and colors in favor of natural substitutes last spring, the company started stocking shelves with the new version back in December. And apparently no one noticed because more than 50 million boxes—the brand's average quota—were sold since then.
So what exactly is different about your kids' favorite noodles? Instead of artificial add-ins, the cheesy meal is colored with paprika and turmeric and no more faux flavorings. Yet the macaroni is still served bright yellow and remarkably cheesy that customers hadn't even picked up on the changes. Until today, when Kraft decided to announce it's "gotcha!" game plan.

This just goes to show us that while our cereal may be less vibrant (RIP original Trix), there are some things that will stay the same even as we phase out fake ingredients and get in on the au naturel movement.
