As McDonald's has appealed to a new generation of customers by offering tech-forward self-service touchscreen burger kiosks, all-day breakfast options, and even table service, the chain has decided to change its look as well.
As we reported back in January, McDonald's announced it would soon be totally changing its look with more modern interior designs with bold colors, minimalist furnishings, and sleek seating. But one location in the U.K. has apparently taken things too far, according to customers in the area. At the Brixton location of the Golden Arches, the trademark bright red and yellow ambience has been swapped for a royal blue accent wall emblazoned with "edgy" faux grafitti.
The concept is to apparently reflect the neighborhood, which is plastered with authentic street art. But locals are not only offended, some are angry that the chain is stereotyping its community. Meanwhile others are unimpressed or downright disappointed. They've all taken to social media to express this mix of emotions, ranging from totally pissed off to to eager, and even accepting.
One person even commented that it's not the Brixton location's "fault" that it looks the way it does.
