At first glance, M&M's latest limited-edition flavor may cause you to scratch your head. Easter...Sundae. Because nothing makes you think of the holiday quite like a bowl full of ice cream and hot fudge.
And then it hits you: Easter Sundae. Easter ... Sunday. We see what you did there, M&M's. It's the kind of pun that'd make Phil Dunphy and Danny Tanner proud. The kind you'd expect as the punchline to a joke on the end of a popsicle stick or taffy wrapper, not the name of a new flavor, yet here it is.
The pastel-colored, candy-coated treats feature a "white center surrounded by milk chocolate." Though the bag doesn't specify what it means by "white," we can only assume it tastes white chocolate-y but doesn't quite meet the FDA's standards for what can be deemed white chocolate. Then again, it could also have more of a vanilla or whipped cream flavor, to give it that "sundae" essence.
You can only find the M&Ms at Walmart, and they should be appearing on store shelves now. M&M's other limited-edition springtime flavor, Strawberry Shortcake, can only be found at Target.
Neither may seem particularly Easter-y, but it's better than the more obvious alternatives: Easter bunny (ooh, gamey!), honey-baked ham (meaty!), boiled eggs (no...just no). However, if the good folks at M&M are looking for suggestions for 2017, perhaps a partnership with Peeps is in order. Or Cadbury. Creme Egg M&M's could be pretty spectacular. Just sayin'.
