Today Chipotle closed the doors of all its restaurants. The nationwide shuttering was for  #ChipotleAllTeam, a satellite broadcast to all employees from top brass like founder Steve Ellis, is only running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time.

However, if this scheduling messed up your lunch plans—and even if it didn't— Chipotle intends to make it up to you with free burritos. (Though, like its giveaway in January, this is probably also an attempt to gain back your trust and compensate for its tumultuous year of food-borne illness outbreaks.)

Here's how to get in on the deal:

  1. First, you need to text "RAINCHECK" to 888-222.
  2. From there, you'll get a text back that will send you to a sign-up page asking for your full name and zip code.
  3. Hit enter and a confirmation page tells Chipotle will "text your free burrito in the next few days." Okay, cool.

Of course, if you're still wary about the safety of eating at Chipotle, then you need to read our investigative look at the outbreaks, which explains exactly what burrito fans need to know.
