While there might never be an end to the argument on whether crispy edge pieces or gooey middle cuts are best, everyone can agree that double-chocolate brownies are better than their single-cocoa counterpart. Because chocolate. But Mario Batali has even more than extra chocolate to offer in his latest recipe and an extra ingredient is garnering some attention: marijuana.
That's right, the Crocs-donning chef puts pot in his brownies. At least he will while he's rooting for the Denver Broncos this weekend during the Super Bowl. In a post for Food52, Batali details his secret to seriously chocolatey brownies: milk chocolate chips, a dash of vanilla, loads of butter, and four grams of "high quality marijuana, cleaned and ground."
Of course, Batali inserted a few disclaimers, claiming that this "optional" addition is merely in "honor of those Broncos, their crazy mile-high city, and their weed-friendly state," which is supposedly the only reason he's "offering a rocky mountain high option." Uh-huh. Okay.
"I'm actually making regular brownies," he added. Suuuure you are, Mario. *wink wink* Just make sure you don't confuse them with the special batch.
