UPDATE: July 20, 2017 at 4:26 p.m.

Last summer's news that Crystal Pepsi had us lining up at supermarkets and big box stores to get our hands on a case (or five). And now we're freaking out again as the clear soda returns for a final comeback this season.

Beginning Aug. 14, fans of the colorless cola can find 20-ounce bottles (about $1.79 each) on store shelves for a limited time. So prepare accordingly.

What's more, the brand is celebrating this throwback with free concerts at baseball stadiums across the country, featuring artists like Busta Rhymes (Aug. 1 at Yankee Stadium in New York), Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath (Aug. 11 at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ), and Salt-N-Pepa (Aug. 13 at Marlins Park in Miami).

UPDATE: June 29, 2016 at 12:09 p.m.

The moment has finally arrived: the iconic clear cola, Crystal Pepsi, is returning to stores shelves in a limited release across the U.S. and Canada. Beginning July 11, you can find 20-ounce bottles ($1.79) at major retailers that carry Pepsi products in Canada while the release date for the U.S. is August 8.

To kick-off its relaunch, the brand has created an online game called The Crystal Pepsi Trail, a nod to the popular '90s computer game, The Oregon Trail. "We've always had a special place in our heart for Crystal Pepsi, and there has been a huge groundswell of support to bring it back," Stacy Taffet, Senior Director of Marketing said in a press release. "What better way to celebrate this iconic 90s cola than to introduce a new take on one of the most beloved games of the decade. Totally rad!"

This summer rumors swirled that Crystal Pepsi was coming back and the internet did a collective happy dance. Since then, we've been waiting for the official relaunch and in the meantime have celebrated the limited release of the Back to the Future bottle. Now the company is on the record with an announcement that Crystal Pepsi will be back for real. But there's a slight catch.

Lovers of the caffeine-free, clear soda who'd like a chance to take home some bottles of the bubbly stuff must enter the brand's new giveaway sweepstakes that promotes its rewards app, Pepsi Pass. From there you'll be eligible to take home a six pack of 16-ounce bottles.

Here's how it works: The contest will take place on Thursday, December 10 and Friday, December 11 on the Pepsi Pass app. So if you're not a user, download it now. You need 1,000 points in the app to enter. If you don't have the numbers, enter at PepsiPass.com. After that you're done. Just cross your fingers you're one of the 13,000 winners the brand will award. (If you have any other questions about the sweeps, read the Pepsi Pass FAQ.)

For those who don't remember, the beloved transparent cola first hit the market way back in 1992 and, though it saw positive response at the outset, sales quickly fell and the drink was discontinued in 1993. Sigh.

Sadly, there's still no word from Pepsi on whether it will put the drink back into production to stock store shelves. Or if it'll be making even more obscure commercials like the product's very first TV spot.

All we know is this: "We have a lot of fans and they're really enthusiastic and they've been asking for Crystal to come back for a long time," Linda Lagos, marketing director for the Pepsi brand, told CNN. "We thought it would be special to bring a holiday treat to our fans."
