The high holy day of chicken-wing season is approaching, also known as Super Bowl Sunday. It's not until February, but that gives party hosts plenty of time to come up with uniquely yummy sauces (like barbecue-bourbon) for their flappers. Buffalo Wild Wings has an idea that may get your mouth watering, or puckering up in horror: a Mountain Dew-inspired flavor.

The chain's Zesty Citrus Sauce, which features Mountain Dew as the star ingredient, will be sold at Buffalo Wild Wings from December 14, 2015 through January 2, 2016. But "neon green" won't be the only flavor profile you'll pick up when you bite in; the sauce is infused with lemongrass and red pepper flakes to enhance the citrus of the soda. The sweet and spicy combo sounds like a surprisingly sophisticated taste for football food.

While the events of February 7 may be the only Bowl you care about, this partnership is actually in honor of the Citrus Bowl, which will be held on New Year's Day in Orlando. And if you miss the Mountain Dew wings, don't sweat it too much: BWW regularly releases new limited-edition flavors via its Sauce Lab. Previous entries have included Chipotle Cherry Sting and Salted Caramel BBQ.
