Old McDonald's, like the cool mom of the fast food world, is constantly trying to keep up with the times. Whether rolling out self-service kiosks, all-day breakfast, or mozzarella sticks (yup), the chain wants the world to know it's hip with the kiddos. But instead of sitting back and enjoying the success of these recent developments, the brand is back with a whole new menu, which is basically just the big fat dad joke this holiday season needs. Introducing the spunky 'McPick 2'.
This new menu works exactly as advertised: Customers get to (mc)pick two items—between a McDouble or a McChicken, and a small fry or mozzarella sticks—for just $2. Though choices are limited, that's quite a steal for what is essentially an entire meal. And McDonald's is hoping such a bargain will help return the foot traffic it lost after nixing the beloved dollar menu.
According to a statement CEO Steve Easterbrook made in July, when the chain left behind the dollar menu it failed to, "replace it with offers of an equivalent form of value." McDonald's hopes that the 'McPick 2' will fill that void. Of course, if the 'Extra Value Menu'—which saw an unsuccessful run in 2012—is any sort of indicator of how this will pan out, things are not looking great for the fast food giant.
