In case you haven't heard, we've been crazy excited about McDonald's latest dollar menu item: mozzarella sticks. We don't really know why it's taken so long to add our favorite appetizer to this popular drive-thru, since mozzarella sticks have been a standard menu item at competitors like White Castle and Arby's. When we found out they're only $1, the excitement was so real.
Recently though, we were shocked and a little grossed out after we learned that McD's chicken nuggets have over 40 ingredients, but now McDonald's shocks again with mozzarella sticks sans mozzarella—so, just sticks?
Imgur user Shannon Gannery bought an order of mozzarella sticks only to find that just one of them actually had cheese inside—the other two were just hollow, breaded, cheese-less shells. Gantry dubbed them "bread sheaths."
Hopefully this won't be a pattern, but if it is, we might just have to start making our own fried mozzarella and baked mozzarella at home. We love (and need) the fried, cheesy goodness of mozzarella sticks to satisfy those late night snack cravings.
In the meantime, we'll be keeping our eyes on Dorito mozzarella sticks from Burger King and all those fast food sweet potato fries.
