While some chains are messing around with mash-ups like ramen burritos and A1-buns for burgers, McDonald's is simply looking to expand its menu with Italian cuisine. The Golden Arches confirmed on Tuesday that next year it will begin serving mozzarella sticks at restaurants nationwide.
According to McDonald's U.S. President Mike Andres, the chain has already tested its fried cheese sticks in Wisconsin this summer—apparently with great success. Business Insider reports that an order of three mozzarella sticks will go for $1.
Following suit with the mini meals it launched back in June, the new side is part of a company-wide shift toward more snacking options. "People are snacking more often these days and looking for more options to create a right-sized meal for them," a franchisee told Fox 6. Guess we can thank our instiable snack cravings for giving us drive-thru mozz stix, which basically fulfills all our childhood dreams.
