In what might be the most perfect timing of the century, Dunkin' Donuts has just unleashed its holiday cup at the same moment Starbucks is receiving serious backlash for the simplicity of its #RedCup.

This weekend, a flurry of angry tweets—ironically adorned with the hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks—expressed disappointment over the lack of Christmas trees, snowflakes, Santa hats, and other wintertime themes on this year's Starbucks holiday cup, which was only given a red ombré coloring. Meanwhile, coffees are getting poured into extremely festive, wreath-emblazoned cups debuting at Dunkin' Donuts right now.

The two coffee brands have been duking it out for years—over everything from specialty espresso drinks to breakfast sandwiches to pastries—and now this holiday controversy could quickly become a new battle ground for competition. As one brand keeps it minimal and offends customers, the other plays up its holiday cheer and no doubt wins over those angry Starbucks fans.
