A Taco Bell customer in New York City is fed up with the chain's alleged lies, and they've decided to take legal action.

Frank Siragusa has had enough of the restaurant advertising menu items brimming with meat and other toppings when, in real life, the treats are made with far less meat. As a result of what Siragusa claims are “unfair and deceptive trade practices,” he has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Taco Bell.

The lawsuit against the fast food behemoth was filed in the Eastern District of New York District Court on Monday, July 31.

Forbes reports that the menu items brought into question in the lawsuit are the Crunchwrap Supreme, Grande Crunchwrap, Vegan Crunchwrap, Mexican Pizza, and Veggie Mexican Pizza.

In the lawsuit, Siragusa specifically made note of how such false advertising can be particularly damaging due to inflation and rising costs.

“Taco Bell advertises larger portions of food to steer consumers to their restaurants for their meals and away from competitors that more fairly advertise the size of their menu items, unfairly diverting millions of dollars in sales that would have gone to competitors,” Siragusa’s team wrote in the complaint, according to Forbes.

If Siragusa's case proceeds, anyone who purchased one of the menu items mentioned in the lawsuit at a Taco Bell location in New York on or after July 31, 2020, is eligible to be part of the class-action lawsuit.

In addition to requesting that the district court prevent Taco Bell from selling the menu items unless they “provide corrected advertising,” Siragusa is also asking that Taco Bell “fully compensate” those who are eligible.
