Holidays that highlight what's on the table (looking at you, Thanksgiving) are the best kind of holidays, but holidays where you can get free food are definitely even better. On Wednesday, November 11, restaurants across the country will be offering free meals for veterans and those on active duty. Some are even offering special promotions for military families. From breakfast platters to sinful desserts, don't plan to spend a dime if you've spent any time serving our country

APPLEBEE'S

Over 2,000 locations nationwide will be offering a free meal to retired and active duty personnel from a special menu, which include entrees like Fiesta Lime Chicken, the American Standard All-In Burger, and Double Crunch Shrimp. Since launching this promotion in 2007, Applebee's has served more than 8.5 million meals to the men and women who've served our country.

On Veteran's Day, military personnel can choose a free select breakfast item like Fresh Baked Brioche French Toast or the Country Biscuit Breakfast. 

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN

CPK will be giving away pizzas, salads, and pasta from a special Veteran's Day Menu on November 11. Don't forget to bring your military I.D. or another proof of service.

CARRABBA'S

Between November 9 and November 14, active duty military and veterans can choose any free appetizer.

CHILI'S

Lunch combos and dinner entrees from a select menu will be offered on the house to all men and women who've served in the armed forces.

DENNY'S

Start your day off with a free Build Your Own Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon at participating Denny's locations. All active, inactive, and retired military personnel are eligible for this fantastic deal.

FRIENDLY'S

Anyone with a valid military I.D. can receive a free Big-Two-Do for breakfast, which has two eggs made to order, bacon or sausage, and two slices of toast, pancakes, or French toast. If you're not a breakfast person, Friendly's is also offering the All American Burger for free at lunch or dinner, served with fries and a fountain drink.

GOLDEN CORRAL

During Military Appreciation Night at this popular chain, veterans, active duty military, and National Guard members are eligible for a free "thank you" dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

IHOP

The pancake house we know and love will be serving free stacks of red, white, and blue pancakes this Veteran's Day. These fluffy buttermilk pancakes are topped with glazed strawberries, blueberry compote, and whipped cream and are available to veterans and active duty military from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

LITTLE CAESAR'S

Stop by on your lunch break between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a free Hot-N-Ready lunch combo.

LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE

Veterans and current service members can get a complimentary Texas Tonion appetizer—a plate of crispy onions drizzled with sour cream and spicy dipping sauce—and a fountain drink.

All veterans and active military are able to claim a free entree from a special menu, such as Penne Primavera, Garlic Rosemary Chicken, and Chicken Parmigiana. All entrees will be served with the OG's famous garlic breadsticks, plus either soup or house salad. As an added bonus, families of military personnel will receive 10% off their entire check. You don't even need a Never Ending Pasta Pass with deals this delicious. 

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE

All active military and veterans can get a free Bloomin' Onion and fountain beverage on Veteran's Day with a valid I.D. For an added bonus, take your family to dinner and get 15% off the total check from November 12 to December 31.

RED LOBSTER

As a thank you to active duty military, veterans, and reservists, Red Lobster is giving away free appetizers and desserts from November 9 to November 12. Choose from menu items like Lobster Pizza, White Wine and Garlic Roasted Mussels, and desserts like the Apple Crostada and New York Style Cheesecake. And don't forget about those famous cheddar biscuits!

TGI FRIDAY'S

As long as you have a valid military I.D., you can grab free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. but menu options and availability will vary by location.
