Just two months after releasing Pumpkin Spice Latte M&Ms to the rabid delight of chocoholics and PSL fanatics everywhere, the chocolate company is rolling out yet another flavor inspired by a beloved chilly weather drink: Hot Chocolate M&Ms.
The candy, which you can only find at Walmart, is made with dark chocolate and raises a few immediate questions: How does it differ, per se, from regular chocolate M&Ms? Is there a slight marshmallow flavor? Is this more of a Swiss Miss, powder-packet-style hot cocoa flavor, or a decadent, European-style drinking chocolate? Can you stir them into warm milk and create M&Ms-flavored hot chocolate?! Not to get all technical, but inquiring minds need to know.
Though some bags have already started popping up on store shelves, they won't officially launch until Sunday, Nov. 1.
You'll also be able to buy White Chocolate Peppermint M&Ms, chocolate holiday mint, and the classic flavors—milk chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut, pretzel and peanut butter—in their holiday finest (AKA red and green-colored candy coating) in the weeks to come.
There's no word yet whether previous seasonal flavors, like gingerbread, cinnamon and cherry cordial, will be making a comeback this year, but if they do, you can be sure we'll be on it faster than you can yell "five-second rule!" after dropping an M&M on the floor.
