McDonald's has been doing a lot to get our attention these days. Over the span of a few months, the chain has managed to completely change its image by employing everything from self-service burger kiosks to all-day breakfast. And while those advents were great and all—oh hi, late night McMuffins!—its latest creation leaves much to be desired. Frankly, it's leaving us a little perplexed.

Introducing the Modern China Burger on a silver bun, which seems like an answer to Burger King's black buns in Japan that just recently launched in America for Halloween. Perhaps if McDonald's hadn't been so quick to dismiss the McWhopper, BK could have offered up some guidance. Instead, we're left with this sordid grey getup.

The bun is simply made by baking black sesame seeds into the dough while the sandwich is layered with a pork patty, bacon, iceberg lettuce, and lots of American cheese, which actually doesn't sound too bad. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), it's only available in China through November 3.

Though not particularly appetizing, this burger does have one plus side: It won't give you any unsavory side effects in the bathroom, which is more than Burger King can say.
